“We are delighted to be part of the Cultural Bridge partnership programme. Through several visits in Riesa and Methil, we will explore how our different artistic, place-based and community practices can inform each other and support new ways of working in post-industrial contexts. By sharing methods, spending time in each other’s communities, and testing ideas through a pilot project, we will explore how underused industrial spaces can be reimagined as welcoming and valued sites for creative communal expression.
The Cultural Bridge funding will enable shared learning and the exchange of expertise, helping us to develop community-informed approaches to increase cultural participation, reduce barriers to engagement, and build strong foundations for future international collaboration.” Red Note
“Development and innovation for a better is mostly possible if one changes its perspective. On behalf of this cooperative internship between Scotland and Saxony we are keen to looking forward to find answers and new opportunities to contemporary societal issues, but also the outgrowths of nowadays urban development circumstances caused by digitalization and demographic shifts visible in our cites by lost places and difunctional areas. Art is a key to elaborated new perspectives. That’s why we are thankful for that upcoming personal exchange and the conjoint art process with Red Note and the people of Methyl.” Elbland Kunsthalle MUSKATOR
About the partners
Red Note Ensemble
“New music enriches the life of Scotland, and creating, developing and performing new music contributes directly to the growth and development of a diverse, dynamic, innovative and inclusive Scottish culture.”
This has been Red Note Ensemble‘s mission since its formation in 2009. At the heart of Red Note is a performing ensemble, who lead by example as Scotland’s, and one of Europe’s, premier contemporary music ensembles. As well as performing the established classics of contemporary music, Red Note also brings composers, performers and audiences closer together through three established and interlinked programme strands:
- Performance & Commissioning
- Developing Talent
- Working with Communities
Red Note commissions new music, develops the work of new and emerging composers and performers from Scotland and around the world, and finds new spaces and new ways of performing new music to attract new audiences – taking it to audiences across Scotland and internationally. http://www.rednoteensemble.com
Elbland Kunsthalle MUSKATOR
With the preservation and revitalization of the historic Muskator boiler house in Riesa, we are creating a vibrant place for contemporary art and culture – open to artists, citizens, and interested visitors from the region and beyond. Our association of art-enthusiastic fans has acquired an industrial monument in the heart of Riesa, directly on the Elbe, in order to preserve it, we carefully renovate it, and make art accessible to all on the premises. We understand the association's grounds as a place of encounter with artistic activities in public spaces, particularly in close proximity to the exhibition hall, the MUSKATOR site, and the city center of Riesa. For this purpose, we engage in collaborations for effective public relations and develop innovative projects that ensure the active participation of one or more of the target groups. Since we were founded in 2024 we organized exhibitions with international artists and a music festival on site. https://www.elbland-kunsthalle.de
