“Griesbadgalerie primarily works with visual art in activating public spaces. Belfast-based Kabosh theatre company commissions provocative narratives that promote positive societal change. We are excited about this opportunity to explore new ways of narrative engagement. We will bring the best of Irish and German cross-artform artists together in Ulm to animate found environments. We will share innovative best practice and explore inclusive creative methodology that connects with a broad demographic; encouraging citizens to look at their environment with fresh eyes.”

Paula McFetridge (Kabosh Theatre)

“So far, we have worked with visual art approaches to activate public spaces. We are excited to collaborate with Kabosh and explore new ways of narrative and performative engagement. We are very much looking forward to developing new methods together.”

Martin Leibinger (Griesbadgalerie)

About the partners

Kabosh Theatre
Founded in 1994, Kabosh is based in Belfast, in the north of Ireland. It is a theatre company committed to challenging the idea of what theatre is, who it is for, and where it is staged. The work is inspired by sites, spaces, and people, and is staged in theatres and in found spaces. Paula McFetridge, who has been artistic director since 2003, commissions, dramaturgs, and directs the company’s programme of original socially engaged practice. The multi-partner work has toured locally, nationally, and internationally. Kabosh is committed to collaborating with the best of cross-artform professional artists and maximising public access to quality arts that provoke informed conversations about contemporary society. https://kabosh.net

Griesbadgalerie

Griesbadgalerie understands art as a means to create encounters and exchange with different communities on current social and political discourse. The project space initiates exhibition series, participatory formats, and interventions in public spaces, thereby setting new impulses in the city's society. Griesbadgalerie aims to support artists who develop socially engaged work. In focus are those who do not sustain themselves through the art market. We support work that is discursive, interdisciplinary, and that does not have to be immediately recognized as art. In recent years, Griesbadgalerie has acquired professional screen print equipment and offers an open-access print shop. Continuing the spirit of a socially engaged non- profit project space, we support artists, activists, and community members to create artistic engagement in the social and political discourse. https://www.griesbadgalerie.de
