“Latin American women in the UK and Germany are uniting to build community, visibility, and empowerment through art, culture, and advocacy. As migrants, refugees, mothers, students, and professionals, we share experiences of displacement and identity. This project connects two women-led collectives to exchange knowledge and co-create artistic work using textiles, printmaking, and zines. Combining community organising and feminist artistic activism, we will collaborate through workshops, visits, and cultural events to strengthen transnational networks, celebrate our heritage, and amplify Latin American women’s voices across Europe through solidarity, creativity, and collective care.”

About the partners

Tardes de parche and Schaubühne Lindenfels.
For years, women from across Central and South America who have migrated to Leipzig for various reasons have been meeting to build community, support one another, and express their identities through artistic and social projects.

Schaubühne Lindenfels transformed after reunification from a derelict industrial cinema into an independent theatre rooted in unconventional art and community-based cultural education. Its programme is developed in collaboration with partners and festivals, bringing together artists, researchers, and diverse disciplines in an international, interdisciplinary space with daily public access and projects that extend beyond the stage.

Together, Tardes de Parche and Schaubühne Lindenfels want to create a space—a welcoming hub for the city’s migrant communities—where they can gather, continue their creative work, and strengthen their networks. Here, art, culture, and mutual care come together to celebrate identity and solidarity. https://www.schaubuehne.com/

Latinas in Bristol CIC
Latinas in Bristol is a grassroots, women-led organisation founded in May 2023 to support Latin American women experiencing isolation, discrimination, and mental health challenges. We create safe, welcoming spaces that foster cultural pride, social integration, and resilience through workshops, peer support, advocacy, and community-led initiatives.

In 2022, we conducted the first survey focused on Latin Americans in Bristol, responding to the lack of official local data. The findings revealed language barriers, limited access to immigration and workers’ rights information, and gaps in translated healthcare resources. We repeat this survey annually to ensure our work reflects community needs.

Our WhatsApp group of over 350 members provides daily peer support and strengthens cultural connection. We organise weekly creative sessions, a Book Club, a Film Club, cultural celebrations, and events.

We continue strengthening representation and building a more inclusive Bristol where Latin American women and families can belong and thrive. https://latinasinbristol.com/
