Last week, the Cultural Bridge team were delighted to be able to come together in Germany for the Fonds Soziokultur RE:CONNECT artist conference in Chemnitz, which explored questions such as:
- How can cultural work help to counteract social division and hate speech?
- How can we reconnect people and live democratic values?
- How do we create places for encounters, empathy and productive dialogue?
- What practical and political work is needed and which partnerships strengthen our work?

Across the week, the team had the opportunity to meet representatives from Cultural Bridge partnerships both past and present in both Chemnitz and Berlin, including MPower, ASA-FF & Quarantine, FAIL & Folkestone Fringe, Berlinklusion, Aufbruch and Insola.

A couple of highlights from their Berlin meet-ups included watching Aufbruch's production of Brecht's 'Mann is Mann' at the Gustav Böß open air theatre, built in the 1920's, in the Jungfernheide Public Park. The weather, staging and strong performances made for a very memorable evening.

And the moment when the team met Nicol and Fieta from Insola and were invited to venture across the Spree in a metal canoe to experience their floating performance platform, which aims to generate new urban interactions between artists and community in the Rummelsburger Bay.
