On 6 June 2026 we welcomed Hannah Rotchell and Amie Flynn from This Is Us Dance Company, together with vocal artist Randolph Matthews, to Rostock for the first in-person Cultural Bridge exchange activity.

The workshop brought together the UK artists and members of Tanz-Theater TIVI for a day of movement, creativity and intercultural exchange. Through dance, voice work, improvisation and shared reflection, participants explored different artistic approaches and began building relationships that will shape the partnership over the coming months.

One of the most meaningful outcomes of this first encounter was the strong sense of connection that emerged within the group. Despite different cultural, linguistic and artistic backgrounds, participants quickly found common ground through movement, creativity and shared experiences.

Reflecting on the wider significance of the exchange, Natalie Shults, co-director of Tanz- Theater TIVI, described a shared aspiration that emerged through the workshop: “Creating a platform for artists and setting an example of how we can transform our cultural landscape into a place where everyone can be seen, be heard, belong.”

This reflection captures the spirit of the partnership and demonstrates how the project is already fostering meaningful intercultural relationships, artistic exchange and a shared commitment to inclusion, participation and belonging.

This first encounter has laid a strong foundation for the next stages of the project, and we are excited to continue developing the partnership and creating further opportunities for collaboration between Germany and the UK.
